Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Welcome to this Darbar Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Fresno, CA — the House of the Guru Ji, where hearts unite in the remembrance of the Divine Shabad (Waheguru). Here, the fragrance of Gurbani fills the air, awakening the soul to truth, compassion, and neness. Within these humble walls, no one is high or low, for all sit together in the light of Ek Onkar, the One Eternal Creator. May every step you take within this holy sanctuary draw you closer to the Infinite. Let the sound of the Shabad purify your mind, the warmth of Sangat (holy company) uplift your spirit, and the peace of Simran
(meditation on the Divine Name) fill your being.

This is not merely a place of worship — it is a doorway to spiritual awakening, a home of divine love, and a reminder that Waheguru dwells within all.

May the Guru’s Grace guide your heart toward Truth, Seva, and Naam.

Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Also, In remembrance of the divine wisdom of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, let us reflect upon His timeless teachings that guide both our personal and professional lives. Guru Nanak Dev Ji emphasized the values of truth, humility, kindness, love (HKL), hard work (Kirat Karni), selfless service (Seva), and sharing with others (Vand Chakna).

His message reminds us that true success lies not merely in personal achievements, but in serving humanity with sincerity and compassion. In every professional endeavor, may we uphold integrity, equality, and kindness—seeing the Divine Light in all beings.

As Guru Nanak Dev Ji proclaimed:

Ik Noor Te Sabh Jag Upjia, Kaun Bhale Ko Mande.
“From the One Light, the entire universe was born — so who is good and who is bad?”

Ek pita ekas ke hum barik
“One True Lord is the Father of all and we are His children.”

Na ko bairi, nahi begana
“No one is my enemy, no one a stranger.”

“Nanak Naam Chardi Kala, Tere Bhaane Sarbat Da Bhalla.”
"O Nanak, with the Divine Name comes ever-rising spirit; in Your Will, may there be welfare for all."

“Sab ghatt maahi vartai Prabh eko”
"The One Divine Light shines within all beings."

"May His divine wisdom continue to inspire us to work righteously, lead ethically, and live harmoniously in the spirit of truth, compassion, and selfless service."

Air is the Guru, Water is the Father, and Earth is the Great Mother.

This verse expresses Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s profound recognition of the natural elements as sacred foundations of life. Air is revered as the Guru for its constant and life-sustaining presence. Water is honored as the Father, essential for growth, nourishment, and survival. The Earth is acknowledged as the Great Mother, providing support, resources, and stability for all living beings. Through this teaching, Guru Nanak Dev Ji emphasizes the importance of respecting, protecting, and living in harmony with the environment, recognizing it as a divine trust entrusted to humanity.

Sikhi : The Way of Life

Exploring the core principles, teachings, and history of Sikhi

The Path of Sikhi

The path of Sikhi, established by Guru Nanak Dev Ji and carried forward by the ten Gurus, is a universal guide for living a life rooted in truth, compassion, and service. Sikh philosophy is not confined to ritual or dogma; it is a practical way of life that emphasizes inner discipline, moral courage, and the upliftment of all humanity. At its core stands the belief in One Divine Creator, present in every heart and reflected throughout all creation. This awareness forms the foundation of a Sikh’s relationship with the world—with humility toward nature, respect for all people, and gratitude for every breath.

The Spiritual and Ethical Framework of Sikhi

Central to the Sikh way is the principle of Naam Japna—remembering and aligning oneself with the Divine through meditation, honesty, and conscious living. This remembrance cultivates virtues such as patience, contentment, humility, and love. Equally essential is Kirat Karni, the practice of earning one’s livelihood through honest and ethical means. Sikhi rejects dishonesty, exploitation, and greed, encouraging individuals to work with integrity and dignity. Complementing this is the practice of Vand Chakna, the responsibility to share one’s earnings and blessings with others. Through charity, seva, and generosity, Sikhs reinforce the message that true wealth lies in uplifting those around us.

Sikhi
Khalsa

Birth of Khalsa

Form of a Sikhi’s commitment to equality is revolutionary. Guru Nanak Dev Ji rejected caste, gender discrimination, and social divisions, teaching that every human being is inherently divine. This spirit is embodied in langar, the community kitchen where all sit together as equals, regardless of background. The Gurus also emphasized courage, both spiritual and societal. Guru Gobind Singh Ji shaped the Khalsa as a model of discipline, resilience, and moral strength, dedicated to protecting the weak and resisting injustice.

The path of Sikhi is ultimately a journey toward becoming Gurmukh, one who lives by the Guru’s wisdom and serves with selflessness. It invites individuals to rise above ego, anger, attachment, and pride, and to cultivate a character shaped by compassion, humility, and truth. In an age marked by division and materialism, Sikhi offers a timeless message: that a harmonious world emerges when individuals act with integrity, see the Divine in all, and serve humanity without expectation.

The teachings of the Gurus continue to inspire millions to walk a path where spirituality and responsibility are one, where faith is expressed through action, and where love, justice, and service become the guiding principles of life.

Sikhi Path

Challenges on this Path

Sikhi is also considered one of the most challenging paths in the world due to the discipline, selflessness, and unwavering moral commitment it demands.

Khandi-o tikhi valo nikki e maarg jaana.

“The path to the Divine is sharper than the edge of a double-edged sword and narrower than a hair — this is the path one must walk. By the Guru’s Grace, those who recognize their true self overcome ego.”

This is not about physical danger, but about spiritual precision and purity — the fine line between self & ego, truth & illusion. The journey of spirituality demands discipline, humility, courage, and unwavering faith. Through Simran, Seva, and Sangat, one rises beyond worldly distractions and awakens to inner peace and Divine Light.

(Ang 1373)

“Kabir, the scholars went ahead, behind them sheep-like follow; there is one impassable steep cliff of the Divine — that Kabir climbs.”

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji reminds us that true spiritual progress is not easy — it requires inner strength, sincerity, and grace. The Divine path is steep, yet blessed for those who walk it with love, devotion, and humility.

Kathin raste jinh turia tinai Purakh milia.

Those who walk the difficult spiritual path meet the Divine. Only those who remain committed, overcoming worldly distractions and ego, are able to realize and meet the Divine Presence within themselves. This pankti reminds us that spiritual rewards come through sustained effort, patience, and unwavering faith.

Sach raahu sakhat kathin.

The path of Truth is hard and steep, yet it must be walked with courage. the path of Truth is challenging and demanding. It emphasizes that walking in righteousness requires discipline, courage, and perseverance. Though difficult, this path leads to spiritual fulfillment and a deeper connection with the Divine. It reminds us that meaningful growth and inner peace are attained through steadfast commitment to truth and virtue.

Khande di Pahul: The Sacred Initiation into Sikhi

(Ang 1238)

“Nanak, there is only one Amrit; there is no second Amrit. Nanak, one who embraces the Amrit in the
mind obtains it by the Guru’s Grace.”

Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699, during which the Khalsa was created.

This divine ceremony represents the commitment to the Guru’s discipline, courage, humility, and pure living.
Those who receive Amrit dedicate themselves to truth, righteousness, seva, simran, and protecting all humanity.

Humility • Kindness • Love

The Three Divine Pillars That Sustain Life on Earth

Humility, Kindness, and Love as the Foundations of Life on Earth

Humility, kindness, and love are not only moral virtues—they are the fundamental forces that sustain human society, the natural environment, and all life on Earth. Across spiritual traditions, including the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, these qualities are described as the essence of true humanity and the key to harmony with creation.

1. Humility (Nimrata) : The Ground of All Growth

Ang 286

Humility is the greatest virtue; through it, one earns the praise of the Guru

Humility allows humans to recognize their place within the vast creation. It removes ego, the root cause of conflict, environmental harm, and exploitation. When individuals and nations act with humility, they use resources responsibly.

Humility opens the heart to learning, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.

In Sikh thought, Nimrata aligns humans with Hukam—divine order—bringing balance to the world.

2. Kindness (Daya): The Language of Humanity

Ang 1349

Through compassion and mercy, one finds the path of Truth.

Kindness is the expression of compassion toward all beings. It builds trust, strengthens communities, and reduces suffering.

Environmental justice begins with kindness to the planet and all species.

Kindness transforms social structures, making them more inclusive and equitable.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught that compassion is the foundation of righteousness.

3. Love (Prem) : The Universal Connecting Force

Ang 1245

One who loves and serves the Guru becomes His true servant.

Love is the energy that unites individuals, communities, and all forms of life. Love inspires people to protect the Earth as a sacred gift.

Love transcends borders, cultures, and differences, revealing our shared humanity.

The Sikh Gurus describe love as the bridge between the human soul and the Creator.

HKL Revolution : A Transformative Path for Humanity

If HKL stands for Humility, Kindness, and Love, then the HKL Revolution represents a global shift in consciousness, a movement rooted in spiritual principles rather than politics or power. Such a revolution would bring a monumental change in humanity because:

  • It replaces ego with humility.
  • It replaces division with compassion.
  • It replaces fear with love.

A society grounded in HKL would:

  • Respect the environment as a living system, not a resource to exploit.
  • Reduce conflict by fostering empathy and understanding.
  • Strengthen families and communities through mutual care.
  • Encourage ethical leadership based on service, not self-interest.
  • Heal emotional, social, and ecological wounds.

This is the kind of transformation envisioned in many spiritual teachings, including Gurbani, where humanity is reminded that:

The Creator lives in all, and all creation is one.
To live truthfully is to walk gently on this Earth and care for every being.
